Texarkana Lawyer Honored by State Bar of Texas

(Austin) – Presentation of awards honoring exceptional service to the public and the legal profession will be a highlight of the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting, June 26-27, at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.

Kristie Wright of Texarkana will be presented with the Joseph M. Pritchard Inn Outstanding Director Award, presented by the Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA).

The Joseph M. Pritchard Inn of former and current officers and directors of the Texas Young Lawyers Association was established in 1979 in honor of the late Joseph M. Pritchard, a former TYLA director and active civic leader. The Inn is pledged to support the programs and objectives of TYLA and annually presents the Joseph M. Pritchard Inn Outstanding Director Award to the TYLA director who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and exemplary efforts to further the projects and purposes of the Texas Young Lawyers Association.

Wright was instrumental in the development of TYLA programs "Kids in the Crossfire" – to help families cope with the effects of divorce on children; "You're Hired! Now What? Knowing Your Legal Rights on Your First Job" – to help inform high school students of their rights and responsibilities when they first enter the workforce; and "Justice 101: The Client's Guide to Litigation." She provided leadership on the annual Bar Leaders Conference, the Long Range Planning Committee, and twice has won a President's Award of Merit.

The State Bar of Texas is an administrative agency of the Supreme Court of Texas that provides educational programs for the legal profession and the public, administers the minimum continuing legal education program for attorneys, and manages the attorney discipline system.
