Midland Lawyer Honored by State Bar of Texas

(Austin) – Presentation of awards honoring exceptional service to the public and the legal profession will be a highlight of the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting, June 26-27, at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.

Natasha L. Brooks will be presented with a Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA) President's Award of Merit. Brooks single-handedly organized a rollout of TYLA's nationally award winning "They Had a Dream Too" project, about how students 50 years ago had a profound impact on shaping today's civil rights laws. The event was attended by more than 300 students in Midland. Brooks also was honored for coordinating TYLA's participation in a Minority Law School Symposium at St. Mary's University.

The State Bar of Texas is an administrative agency of the Supreme Court of Texas that provides educational programs for the legal profession and the public, administers the minimum continuing legal education program for attorneys, and manages the attorney discipline system.
