Corpus Christi Individuals Honored by State Bar of Texas

DALLAS – Presentation of awards honoring exceptional service to the public and the legal profession will be a highlight of the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting, to be held June 25-26 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas.

The following Corpus Christi individuals are among those being honored:

Jaime Rangel, Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA) President's Award of Merit. Along with the Corpus Christi Young Lawyers Association, Rangel was instrumental in rolling out "Vote America! Honor the Fight, Exercise Your Right" to hundreds of Corpus Christi students and tracking the program statewide. He has worked with Corpus Christi ISD in implementing other TYLA law-related programs. Cissy Smith, Leon Jaworski Award for Teaching Excellence. The Jaworski Award is presented by the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors to recognize educators who have made an outstanding contribution to law focused education and whose programs foster understanding of the values of our legal and judicial systems. Smith teaches at Baker Middle School, Corpus Christi ISD.

The State Bar of Texas is an administrative agency of the Supreme Court of Texas that provides educational programs for the legal profession and the public, administers the minimum continuing legal education program for attorneys, and manages the attorney discipline system.
