San Angelo Individual Honored by State Bar of Texas

DALLAS – Presentation of awards honoring exceptional service to the public and the legal profession will be a highlight of the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting, to be held June 25-26 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas.

Jeff Chandler of San Angelo will be presented a Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA) President's Award of Merit.

Each year, hundreds of unaccompanied children reach the Texas border after fleeing abuse, neglect, or persecution in their home countries. In 2006, TYLA joined efforts with ProBAR to create the Unaccompanied Children's Project to provide a voice for unaccompanied children detained in South Texas. This year, Chandler was the leading force behind creating the "TYLA/ProBAR: Know Your Rights" video, helping attorneys and assistants provide an immediate and concise outline of laws and regulations at initial intake sessions. He will serve as TYLA's treasurer in 2009–2010.

The State Bar of Texas is an administrative agency of the Supreme Court of Texas that provides educational programs for the legal profession and the public, administers the minimum continuing legal education program for attorneys, and manages the attorney discipline system.
