Texas Bar Exam

The Texas Board of Law Examiners is an agency of the Supreme Court of Texas that screens applicants for the Texas Bar exam and administers the exam. All information about the Bar exam and admission in Texas may be found on the Board's website.

Texas Guaranteed Student Loans

Law students should be aware that once they become licensed attorneys, they are subject to suspension from the practice of law for defaulting on a student loan. Once the State Bar receives notice of default on a student loan, the attorney has 60 days to provide:

  1. A certificate issued by the Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation certifying a repayment agreement on the defaulted loan; or
  2. A certificate issued by the Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation certifying that the individual is not in default of a loan guaranteed by the Corporation.

Student Trial Cards

Third-year law students may apply for a provisional bar card through the State Bar of Texas. Application: (word – pdf format)
