Midland Individual Honored by State Bar of Texas
HOUSTON — Presentation of awards honoring exceptional service to the public and the legal profession will be a highlight of the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting, June 14–15, at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.
The following Midland individual will be honored:
Pete “Pedro” J. Fierro, Pro Bono Coordinator Award, presented by the State Bar Legal Services to the Poor in Civil Matters Committee. As the Equal Justice Volunteer Program Coordinator with Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas’ Midland office for nearly 10 years, Fierro has focused on creating pro bono opportunities to recruit volunteers to provide civil legal assistance to low-income people in Glasscock, Howard, Martin, Midland, Reagan, and Upton counties. Fierro has demonstrated the importance of building collaborative partnerships in an effort to address the unmet legal needs of the client community.
The State Bar of Texas is an administrative agency of the Supreme Court of Texas that provides educational programs for the legal profession and the public, administers the minimum continuing legal education program for attorneys, and manages the attorney discipline system.
