State Bar of Texas to Honor Two Midland Attorneys
MIDLAND, TEXAS – State Bar of Texas President Harper Estes of Lynch, Chappell & Alsup, P.C. will honor local attorneys Pedro "Pete" Javier Fierro and Michael T. Morgan in conjunction with the Bar's Board of Directors meeting Friday in Midland.
Resolutions will be presented during a luncheon scheduled for noon, Friday, Oct. 3, at the Midland Center, 105 N. Main St., Room 5.
Pedro "Pete" Javier Fierro will be honored for his work with the Midland office of Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas where he serves as the coordinator of the Equal Justice Volunteer Program. Fierro recruits private attorneys to take pro bono cases, organizes legal clinics, and helps programs throughout the state provide access to justice for Texans who otherwise could not afford a lawyer. He is the president-elect of the National Association of Pro Bono Professionals.
Michael T. Morgan, a partner at Bullock, Scott, Neisig, Morgan, Leeton & Strauss, P.C., will be recognized for exemplary service to the community and the legal profession. He is a committed volunteer with the Midland Chapter of the Association of Retarded Citizens, dedicated to providing a better life for people with disabilities. He was named Volunteer of the Year by the Arc of Texas and was honored with the Midland Exchange Club's Golden Deeds Award, a tribute to unsung heroes.
