State Bar of Texas Selects 19 Lawyers for LeadershipSBOT

(Austin) – Nineteen lawyers statewide have been selected by the State Bar of Texas to join the inaugural class of LeadershipSBOT. Selected for their leadership potential, participants will examine what is expected of leaders and receive guidance and advice to help them become effective and respected leaders in their profession and in their communities.

Participants will attend the first of three multi-day sessions beginning Oct. 16. Those selected for LeadershipSBOT are: • Current members of the State Bar of Texas • Individuals who aspire to lead and have the demonstrated potential to become leaders • Individuals who have a goal to serve their communities and the profession and are committed to a profession and judiciary that reflect the diversity of the state • Individuals willing to commit sufficient time to attend two sessions of LeadershipSBOT plus the June 2009 State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting • Individuals willing to make an additional year commitment of service within the organized bar.

Lawrence D. Brown, a partner in the Round Rock firm of Brown and Davis
Adrian Castillo, staff attorney for the Seventh Court of Appeals in Amarillo
Brandon S. Clarke, an associate of CB Richard Ellis, Inc. in Houston
J. Patrick Cohoon, an associate in the Houston office of Cozen O'Connor
Murray A. "Trey" Crutcher, III, a litigation associate in the Midland firm of Stubbeman, McRae, Sealy, Laughlin & Brow
Shannon Dacus, a partner in the Tyler firm of Ramey & Flock, P.C.
Nakia Davis, an associate in the Houston firm of Beck, Redden & Secrest, LLP
Ami Desai, a sole practitioner in Austin
George Edwards, III, an attorney in The Gallagher Law Firm in Houston
Stephen M. "Mickey" Gerdes, II, a sole practitioner in Uvalde
Sallie Godfrey, an attorney with Lone Star Legal Aid in Angleton
Kendall Kelly Hayden, an associate in the Dallas office of Cozen O'Connor
David Fowler Johnson, a member of the Appellate Practice Group at Winstead, P.C. in Fort Worth
Patricia Lopez, a staff attorney with Texas RioGrande Legal Aid in El Paso
Josue M. Martinez, a sole practitioner in Boerne
Evelyn Njuguna, an assistant city attorney in Houston
Pedro "Pete" Serrano, an associate attorney in the Amarillo office of Sprouse, Shrader & Smith
James O. "Khayan" Williams, an assistant district attorney at the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney's Office in Fort Worth

The State Bar of Texas is an administrative agency of the Supreme Court of Texas. The Bar provides educational programs for the legal profession and the public, administers the minimum continuing legal education program for attorneys, and manages the attorney discipline system.
