State Bar of Texas Election Results

Bob Black of Beaumont was elected to serve as president-elect during the 2010-11 bar year. He will serve as president of the State Bar during the 2011-12 bar year. Natalie Cobb Koehler of Meridian was elected president-elect of the Texas Young Lawyers Association. [4/10]

Proposed Revisions to the Disciplinary Rules

The Supreme Court of Texas has posted revised proposed amendments to the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct on its website (scroll down for April 2010 revisions and related documents). The State Bar expects to conduct a referendum of its members this fall on these proposed changes. [4/10]

Court Decides Against Insurance Disclosure

The Supreme Court of Texas has decided against a proposal that would have required attorneys to disclose whether they have professional liability insurance. The State Bar of Texas Board of Directors previously voted 39 to 1 against recommending such a requirement to the Supreme Court. [4/10]

Almaguer Elected Chair of the Board

On April 16, Pablo J. Almaguer was elected chair of the board of the State Bar of Texas. He is the Private Attorney Involvement Group coordinator for Texas Rio G rande Legal Aid (TRLA). [4/10]

MCLE Regulations Changes

On January 28, the State Bar board approved changes to the MCLE regulations and accreditation standards.[4/10]
